Audio Doppler analysis

The Doppler effect can be used to measure the speed of a passing vehicle. I've seen reports of the police using this system instead of radar, as it's undetectable from the vehicle. Here is a pic of the FFT analysis of a passing train:

Notice the shift in the lines where the train passes by.
