If you haven't volunteered for anything yet, New York Cares is a great place to start. I've been doing things with them for a few months now and it's a lot of fun. One special thing for this time of year is the Secret Santa Program where you can play santa and buy gifts for needy children in New York City. (You don't even have to be in NY to help out with the gifts, but you would need to be here for the other programs!) Do it now!

My Article in the NYTimes!!! (sorta) I am will continue to expose insecure websites and to try to get more attention to the matter of making website more secure. Any website that holds customer data or is trusted to give reliable information should take all steps needed to addresss the problem. If the website fails to do that, the website should be taken down until it can be addressed. (more on security holes)

My Cross Site Scripting Alert is finally released after many months of trying to convince these sites to close these holes. Please read this notice as many sites on the internet ignore the security of your data. If you're concerned about me alerting the public about security problems, read this informed article about public disclosure and how it can minimize the window of exposure. ( For those who can remember back to 1996, I also alerted the public to this security hole after netscape and macromedia ignored me. )

Another plane down! Another plane is down in NYC. This map shows it is in a more remote part of the city, near a beach, fancy houses, but still a disaster. Let's not over react, but my guess is that it was sabotage. How many mechanics do they check every day?
Live Camera view (needs java) or here is non java version... It is controllable, so you can move around and see all of NYC. These cameras are mounted on the top of the Empire State Building, so they have quite a view.
