It is important to keep a healthy level of insanity in the workplace. Like #15 Put your garbage can on your desk. Label it "IN."

Muffins. So, my girlfriend likes these muffins. Blueberry Peach to be exact. They seem to be made only in Nyak, 30 miles from us in NYC. We don't have a car, so we bike there instead. That's what we did yesterday. Then we went running. Needless to say, I am tired today. In other news, are you an Internet Addict? Or, are you an IM Addict?

And more Friday good news, as a follow up to our ActiveBuddy patent issues, BT's "link" patent has been tossed. Bad software patents are nasty and the scourge of us little software developers. More publicity and a real review of patents is needed!
Looks like I'll need a wetsuit for coming triathlons. In what may be good news, Some people are finding that the Antarctic Sea Ice is increasing. Are we actually heading into an Ice Age?

Details on my triathon splits -- Overall in Age group (30-34 most competitive) 3:04:48 (90th) -- Swim 1500m - 39:36 (174th) -- Transition 1 (w/ 100+m run) - 4:09 (43rd) (my best part!) -- Bike 40K - 1:24:14 (118th) (thought I did better) -- Transition 2 - 1:41 (62nd) -- Run 10K - 55:10 (92nd) (thought I did worse) So, over all, my transitions were best, followed by my run, (which I walked a little in)!
New York Times covered my triathon results. It went every well, but for the swim, the current was against us. In addition, I had a late start, so by the time I got to the run, it was 93F, and even hotter on the pavement. My overall time was 3:04:48. I have yet to find all my splits.

Out of work or just looking around for a new job? Don't make these common mistakes on your resume. You might make your resume more appalling.
Coverage of the ActiveBuddy(tm) patent is picking up. AB is roasted On SlashDot.org and on F*ckedCompany.com.

More Dumb Patents. This one was patented after I got into bots, and so, you can imagine how upset this makes me. There is lots of proof of the existance of bots on chat networks before this patent, including Eggdrop, started in 1993 and AOLEliza who's first logged conversation was August, 15, 2001, a week before this patent was filed.

There is currently no way to ensure the security in MS Internet Explorer. The foundations of secure web transactions (SSL) is not properly implemented in IE. This of course has to be fixed asap. The open source version, KDE's browser has already been fixed.

What a beautiful weekend! After going for on nice ride on Saturday, we went sailing on Sunday. The wind was good and waves were 2-4 feet on the ocean. This made for some fast sailing, but rough conditions. We even went for a swim! Luckly, we did not run into the Black Water that is haunting FL.

A glamerous image now murderous. A screenwriter famous for writing movies with smoking charaters, making it glamerous, seducing millions to smoke, is now trying to come clean. Will he save a few? In other news, New York Mayor wants smoking outlawed in NY city restaurants and bars. At last, two good stories!
Ahhh, the weekend is almost here. After going on a nice fast bike ride yesterday (@ 20mph+), I'm off on a long trip tomorrow (50+ miles). Then swimming in open water on Sunday. It looks like the training is all coming together, and I should be all ready for New York City Triathlon next week. In case you want to come out on a cheer for me, you have to be up at 6:30am on the 18th. Don't feel bad, at least it won't be too hot!

As we discussed here earlier, Microsoft Passport is a big privacy hole. The FTC has finally taken MS to task on this issue and made them promise not to do it again. to start basic security practices and to stop collecting other information about you. Hehe, they need a lot more than 'basic' security to entrust your life's worth of data to MS. More info from EPIC.

www.NYTri.com is now up! (for the moment, it is pointing here.) Soon, it'll have information on Triathlons in NY and useful links for the training athlete.

iPounce.com is now up in beta testing mode. We still have a lot of features to add, but I figured I'd announce it now since the button is already there on the left. This site lets you send IM's to your friends while they are offline! It's as easy as messaging them in the first place!

Got to see Lance Armstrong today. He was racing in the city for some fundraiser. They were going amazingly fast... I gotta get that fast. I didn't see the finish, though I had a great view. Got to see them go by 50 times or so. Lance stayed in the main pack while 7 guys broke away, I guess he was having an easy day, even though it was like 100 degrees!

Well, long time with no updates. Now, I'm gonna try to update a lot more often. I've been really busy with work, runabot and training for the NYC Triathlon in two weeks. I have finally qualified for that event (with a 2 mile swim! ) and have gone on some long bike rides (55 miles) and have even done a 'brick' (Bike to Run ICKy feeling), so I can't wait for the race!
