Developer.com article about my security alert finally made it up. It's been 4 months since I notified some of these sites and they are still not fixed. Note that the worst hole is with Citibank and lets one transfer cash out of users bank accounts through their c2it cash transfer site.

Cut backs and cost reductions have gone wild. They have escaped the tech and dot com land and have even spread to Starbucks. The chain was cutting back its menu to just two beverages: coffee, and coffee with milk. "that's all we've been offering all along. Macchiato, latte, cappuccino -- they're all the same damn thing. We can't believe that nobody's picked up on this."

Birthday - yes, today I get a year older. I've tried to keep it quiet and not do too much since I already have Christmas / New Years to deal with. You know, it's just a good day to relax and think about what to do with the next year of your life!

Are my two favorite enemies working together? Sure, there are holes and bugs in XP. Did al Qaeda put some there? Is there even a way for us to check? Not with out the source code!

The Royal Tenenbaums, from the makers of Rushmore, was quircky and funny at times, but was not Rushmore. None of the kids in this movie could get over their petty childhood problems. Don't try to compare them of course, you really shouldn't do that with movies. But, comparing it to other movies this season, I would recommend something like Spy Game or Amelie for your viewing pleasure.

Need to find gifts in that stack of catalogs? Just use the new google search for paper catalogs. It seems they have OCR'ed all your favorites and use their search to find stuff in them. Don't search for nasty words, or you may find out how error prone OCR can be ("Each Pack 5.95")

New Years Resolution #1 Ok, so I'm starting early, but I'm already commited, so I might as well post it. NYR#1 is to finish an olymic Triathlon next year. Sounds like fun: 1.5K Swim, 40K Bike, 10K Run. I can already do all of those individually, so I just gotta train for the combination. Has anybody out there been in a Triathlon?

The USENET goes way back and now Goolge Groups goes back with them. Search posts all the way back to 1981. Wow. You can read one of my first posts on the internet or The Post that eventually got me my first job in NY. Ah the memories.

It's amazing how many people just don't understand why we are at war. They seem to think it's some sort of revenge thing I guess. I'll have to say, they haven't been reading, or, they have been doing a lot of ignoring. Let me straighten it out for you: We are at war to _prevent_ more attacks. By destroying the vast capabilities of the Al Qaeda network, I do believe that we will stop at least some future attacks. It's clear from past attacks by Bin Laden's organization, that anything less will not stop him and he will only continue to increase the size and dimension of his attacks on the US until we are distroyed. The Taliban have been puppets of this group and have been given every chance to come clean. They now have lost power and hopefully this whole thing will soon be over and my friends and neighbors here in NYC will stop getting killed. I do appreciate feedback on the matter.

With all these Robots taking over our chat rooms and instant messengers, it would be nice if we could tell apart robots from humans like in Turing Test. Now, there is a program the can automatically distinguish robots from humans. It's called Gimpy (from the Gimp imaging program)! I suppose we'll have to teach our bots how to pass that one too!

I wonder if I will get one of these emails for linking to kpmgee without their permission! If formal linking agreements were required for every link on the web, it would not be what it is today.

Moon Landings Faked? The NYTimes today has an article about the faked moon landings. It says that officials within NASA have stepped forward about the cover-up. I myself don't believe it. How can such an article make it to the New York Times? Well, I for one have an answer.

In more science news on the New York Times site, the Ginger Machine is unveiled. Will cities be redesigned to accomodate this device? Will it be another tech bomb? We'll see.
